Recently, Saud Bahwan Automotive and Oman Shell signed a contract for the purchase of 16 Toyota Mirai Hydrogen vehicles. The event was attended by Mr. Abdullah Mohamed Bahwan, Managing Director – Corporate, Saud Bahwan Group as well as Walid Hadi, Oman Shell’s Senior Vice President and Country Chairman, besides other Senior Management officials from Oman Shell.
This milestone is part of Oman Shell’s ‘6th Gift to the Nation’ initiative – a Green Hydrogen for Mobility project. Towards this, Oman Shell has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Oman Airports Management Company (Oman Airports) where Oman Shell will provide Oman Airports with 15 Toyota Mirai Hydrogen vehicles for corporate usage. This project comes in line with Oman Vision 2040 priorities related to decarbonization and supporting Oman’s energy transition.
The project will include development of hydrogen production units that will be powered by photovoltaic solar plants and installing it at a state-of-the-art fueling station near Muscat International Airport.
